A little about my story
Let’s be honest, I’ve always been a bit hit and miss with skincare. My mom always used Elizabeth Arden products, so I grew up with them in my life. But I’d start a routine and then it would slowly peter out. My skin was always pretty good, just a little on the dry side, so I guess there was no real reason or urgency to stick with anything.
Then, somewhere around 40, there were some noticeable changes. My skin was super dry, was looking an odd colour, and wow, I was suddenly looking so much older! It had somehow snuck up on me enough that I finally started noticing it.
What I didn’t realise is that over time, our skin changes a lot. It gets thinner, holds less moisture, and becomes far more reactive to the things we put on it. Products your skin used to shrug off in your 20s and 30s can suddenly leave 40+ skin looking tired, dry, and dull.
Once I understood that, I began searching for a product that was a good match for me. The only issue was that some systems had so many steps, and by now you’ve probably realised I’m pretty basic when it comes to this stuff. Ten-step routines were never going to be my thing.
Around the same time, I was studying to become a certified IIN Health Coach, and that’s where I learned that your skin absorbs everything, and what it absorbs can affect your body in ways most of us never think about. So now I was on a new mission: find a clean product that actually works, without 10 steps that I was never going to do.
Turns out, your skin absorbs a lot of what you put on it. Same principle as food: your body can only work with what you give it. So if you’re eating well but slathering on products full of synthetic fragrances, parabens, and who-knows-what-else, you’re only doing half the job.
That’s when I went down the clean beauty rabbit hole and never looked back.
